Wael Arakji, born on September 4, 1994, is a prominent Lebanese basketball player known as “the Fearsome.” He currently plays for Al Riyadi Club Beirut in the Lebanese Basketball League and represents the Lebanon national team. Arakji has had a diverse career, including stints in the Chinese Basketball Association and a participation in the NBA Summer League with the Dallas Mavericks in 2019. His outstanding skills were recognized when he earned the MVP award at the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup, where Lebanon achieved the runner-up position.In 2018, Wael Arakji played for the Beijing Royal Fighters in the Chinese Basketball Association, where he put up impressive stats, averaging 16.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.4 steals in five games. The following year, he had the opportunity to showcase his skills with the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Summer League.
In 2020, Arakji played a pivotal role in helping Al-Shamal secure victory in the Qatari Basketball League. He continued with the same team for the 2020–21 season, where he played a crucial role in taking them to the league final. During that season, he averaged 26.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.7 steals in 14 games.
In 2021, Arakji achieved success with US Monastir in Tunisia, winning the Championnat National A title and reaching the final of the Basketball Africa League. His exceptional performance earned him a spot on the 2021 All-BAL First Team.
In September 2021, Arakji made a move to Al-Jahra in Kuwait. Then, on March 6, 2022, he returned to the Lebanese Basketball League after a three-year absence, signing with Beirut Club. Now Wael is at Al Riyadi Club, leading the team into victories.
